Texas boasts quite a few impressive Guinness World Records. The heaviest ball of dog hair was created in Austin. The largest fruit display was built in Dallas. And now, let’s add Frisco to the list. Sports City USA just broke a Guinness World Records title for the world’s largest soccer ball number.
On June 4, Visit Frisco invited staff and designated guests to Warren Sports Complex and arranged 1,141 soccer balls that spelled out the current year, “2026.” It’s fitting, since the FIFA World Cup is being played across North America, including nine matches in Arlington. The Swedish Men’s National Team is also staying in Frisco during FIFA World Cup 26, so there’s plenty of excitement to be had.

A Guinness adjudicator confirmed this is, in fact, a world record. Congrats, Visit Frisco!
A trip to Visit Frisco
In addition to writing about fun things across Texas, my pal Sean and I host the Sports R Dumb podcast. The Visit Frisco team was kind enough to invite us to record a few episodes with them. Frankly, I think they turned out amazing—certainly the best sound quality our show has ever had. Here’s an episode where we added a quirky rule to each sport to improve it. Which rule would you most like to see implemented?
Frisco’s nickname is Sports City USA because there’s plenty to do for sports fans on a given day, from lounging in the lazy river at a Frisco RoughRiders game or hitting a few golf balls at PGA Frisco. During the World Cup, there’s even more going on. The National Soccer Hall of Fame will let you customize your own scarf, take photos with iconic moments, and learn about the history of the game. Various watch parties and events are taking place throughout the city, too, so keep up with all the action here.
